SecondView

Privacy

The short version: reading SecondView doesn’t identify you. We use no advertising, no tracking cookies and no social media pixels, and we never sell or share data for marketing. The only personal data we hold is what you choose to send us.

Last updated 31 October 2026.

Who we are

SecondView is run by Mr Green, who decides how this data is used (the “controller”, in data protection terms). Contact: hello@secondview.info, with “Privacy” in the subject.

Reading the site

We count visits with Umami, a cookie-free analytics service. It tells us which pages are read, roughly where visitors are in the world, what kind of device they use and which site sent them. It doesn’t set cookies, doesn’t store your IP address and can’t follow you to other sites. We only ever see totals, never individuals.

The calculators run entirely in your browser. The figures you type in are never sent to us.

Reader questions

We’re not taking reader questions yet, so the site collects nothing from you. This page will say what we keep before the question form opens.

Emailing us

Email to hello@secondview.info reaches the editor’s inbox. We keep it as long as we need to deal with what you raised, then delete it.

Why we’re allowed to

  • Visit counts and emails you send us: our legitimate interest in running the site and answering what you raise. We keep these as light as we can.

Who handles it for us

  • Google (Firebase): hosts the site.
  • Umami: visit counts. Umami’s servers are in the EU and US.
  • IONOS: forwards email sent to hello@secondview.info.

Where data goes outside the UK, these providers use the safeguards UK law requires, such as approved contract terms.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it. Email us and we’ll reply within a month. We hold so little that we may need you to tell us roughly when you contacted us, and from which email address.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we update this page and its date first.
